Desktop computers for basic tasks are becoming smaller and the sample are such devices. Zotac is known for its miniature equipment and kits Mini-ITX format, and this time brings a very interesting mini PC with Sony vgp-bps2c battery. The tiny Nano ZBOX is a team of only 127×127 mm – take that, Mac Mini – powered by AMD accelerated unit E series Radeon integrated graphics HD Series 6, which although not very powerful, does the job effectively in so compact format.
Until recently, the hegemony of Intel’s Atom platform in this type of equipment was almost complete, and there was an interesting option for AMD to go as an alternative. This has begun to change with the APU AMD’s Fusion platform, which are able to develop a pretty decent power with a very low consumption, in conjunction with a Radeon HD graphics chip in theory develops a performance superior to Intel’s integrated solutions. One of the pioneers in kits with AMD Fusion is Zotac, which in April submitted its mini-ITX solution with the E series APUs AMD and then launch its first mini computers with this Dell inspiron 1520 battery. A Gigabit Ethernet port and an adapter 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi to make the 150Mbps network connectivity with a Bluetooth 3.0 chip, while a DisplayPort connector and a HDMI connection make up the graphics section. The soundcard in your computer includes only 1 Apple powerbook g4 battery for RAM SO-DIMM, so unless you want to waste a hell of a module of 8GB, the most “logical” memory installed in the unit will be 4GB. Inside the tiny structure there is also room for a hard drive or SSD 2.5 inches. Zotac has seen fit to incorporate a multi-memory card reader and an infrared receiver, along with a remote control for multimedia tasks supports Windows Media Center.
The system includes passive cooling, so no sound – a part of it can leave the hard drive – during operation. Similarly do not include an internal optical drive, because with just 4.5 cm. high and 12.7 wide and long it would be possible to install. For now, the company will supply two versions of the Zotac ZBOX Nano, AD10-shaped Barebone, out of RAM and disk, and the AD10 Plus, with IBM ThinkPad x60 battery and installed a 320GB hard drive at 5400rpm. Although the price has not been detailed for Europe, and Japan is trading at a price of 27,500 yen (about 250 Euros) in its barebone, and 35000 yen (about 315 Euros) for the model AD10 Plus with 2GB of RAM and hard drive. Both prices seem quite adjusted to the current market, and we must remember that Japan is prone to higher prices in this type of technology, it is possible that when you can buy in the West, we find a label if a bit cheaper fits.

You may have never heard about a GPS review so I will describe what it looks like. I will cover a Magellan GPS Roadmate 2200T which will be described in depth in another article. The 2200T has a current retail price of around $400. For that price, it’s in competition with Garmin’s c530, which is essentially a c330 that’s been upgraded with SiRF’s receiver. If you want absolute ease-of-use, then I recommend that Garmin c530 over the RoadMate 2200T. Garmin’s interface is slightly easier to use than Magellan’s one and their routing engine can’t be beat at all. However, if you fancy more options such as multi-destination routing, route exclusion, Text-to-Speech, and a traffic jam add-on capability, or are interested in a cross-over GPS that can be upgraded for outdoor purposes, therefore you should opt for the RoadMate. If you are thinking about an Alpine Blackbird, or TomTom ONE, I recommend the Magellan RoadMate 2200T over both those units. The 2200T is a better unit than the One or the Blackbird. Compared to Garmin, it is more a question of your needs and waits.
