With a Windows emulator such as Virtual PC, Macs can also run Windows and DOS applications. The more recently announced Apple’s Mac mini has been turning some heads, even in the PC world. If the iMac G5 is basically a 1U server attached to a monitor, the Mac mini is basically a reorganized laptop without a monitor The Mac mini is especially relevant to this article because a lot of the discussions about performance with regards to Apple’s PowerBook will apply directly to the Mac mini, as the two platforms are very similarly configured.

OS X Tiger: -
The more I read about OS X Tiger, the more interested I become. The two main features that draw me to the update are Apple’s system-wide, fully indexed search engine, called Spotlight, as well as the fact that in Tiger, every single pixel on the screen will actually be rendered by the graphics card. For the most part, in OS X Panther, all of the rendering work is done by the CPU, with some GPU accelerated compositing occurring. In Tiger, everything is done through the pixel pipelines of your GPU, increasing the dependency on a graphics card with fast memory access, as well as increasing the flexibility of some of the effects that you’re able to do in the OS itself.

Given Tiger’s reliance on very high GPU performance, I would almost expect Apple to celebrate its release with a new G5 platform – with PCI Express graphics. That may be a bit of wishful thinking.

There is an attractive feature included by apple that is Universal Compatibility that means Aperture 1.1 runs natively on both Intel-based and PowerPC-based Macintosh computers. I tested it on both an Apple G5 Dual Core PowerMac with four gigs of RAM and a new Mac Book Pro 2GHz model with two gigs of RAM. I’ve seen Aperture run on a PowerBook, and there’s no denying that it runs much quicker on the Mac Book Pro. Gateway MX6447 Keyboard Dust Cover, easy to make

I work from home a week at a time. I recently got a new Gateway MX6447 Keyboard at work and loved the “newness” so much i wanted to keep it that way. So I thought of creating a cover for the new Gateway Laptop Keyboard to keep out the dust while I was away. Oh, and I did not want to spend $$ on it.This Instructable could not be easier and costs next to nothing to make. Most of the materials you have in your desk drawer already.

Creating the “spine” of the Gateway MX6447 Keyboard cover not only gives a way to put it on and remove, it also adds rigidity to the cover. For this step, line both sheets of paper up just as they were in the printer. Eyeball about 1″ from the edge and begin to staple making sure to keep the sheets aligned. Only staple 4-5 inches up from the end. you will need the other half free to move.

Take what you have made so far and lay it on your Gateway MX6447 Keyboard. Line up the paper along the bottom of the laptop keyboard(where your wrists sit). Mark the paper 1″ past where the top of the Gateway laptop Keyboard stops. Take long straight edge (or like me the keyboard) and mark the line you will need to cut. This is all excess and can be thrown away.

Using the same technique as the previous step, measure and mark the edge of the Gateway MX6447 Keyboard side to side. Make sure the Spine is centered on the laptop keyboard. When you have both sides marked, lay the paper flat and fold. Make sure you crease well with your fingernail. For this step you will need to fold the spine over and then fold the back on your mark (Gateway laptop Keyboard edge). Once folded and creased well, cut the spine down to the fold.Tape the flat part front and back.

Fold and tape the corner.Lay the cover on the Gateway MX6447 Keyboard and mark the spot where the USB or PS2 cable enters the laptop keyboard.Cut the angle to match the desk and your done!!! Now you can keep your keyboard nice and clean.

Again the materials you will need are: -Your Gateway MX6447 Keyboard -2 11×17 Sheets of Paper-Staples and Stapler-Sissors-Scotch Tape-Pencil/Sharpie The pictures in this Instructable will be very helpful in visualizing what needs to happen. And it would help if you had a large work surface to do this on.
