halflifesourceThis is one of the finest games from Valve and the start of their main franchise, i still remember the scares i got with those damn creatures “chirping” in the dark or the great A.I. found on enemy soldiers(for it’s time) Anyhow the original Half Life has received an graphical overhaul by using the relatively new Source engine from Valve as well. For those of you who missed the original or just want a to experience the game again, there is no better alternative than having the same good old game with stunning new graphics.

* Sacred Gold

sacredThere have been many Diablo’s look-alikes, clones and so forth; one that really stands out from the pack, it’s Ascaron’s Sacred. There is noting really innovative with the game, besides the fact that each character class has a completely different story within the game and maybe the huge game map; nevertheless what is there it’s really excellently accomplished. It’s one of those games, if you like RPGs that is, it’s easy to pick up and very difficult to put down; there are no turns here, but to me the effect feels like Civilization’s “one more turn” dilemma. Just that in this case it’s probably a quest instead of a turn! Plus here it comes packed with it’s expansion Underworld, so you probably have like 50 house of gameplay in total. That packed with multi player options, is definetly worth 10 bucks.

* Nexus – The jupiter incident

nexusjpgNexus is really an odd thing, born out of the remain of Imperium Galactica 3′s demise, it really surprised many people with it’s graphics and tactical fleet combat. If you ever wondered what is like to command a fleet of space ships, ala Sheridan on B5 or Ackbar on SW, then this is the game for you. Launching fighters, boarding enemy ships/installations, targeting specific ship systems and much more is at your disposeal to take down enemies. Years later from it’s debut, it’s still an awe inspiring game due to it’s graphics; watching your ship leaving a plasma trail due to it’s engine, while it’s living quarters rotates to create a G force and listening to great atmosphere music it’s still a beautiful experience unto itself. If you want to have a fling with a tactical space RTS, then this is your chance, but if you are a genre fan; how come you still haven’t played it!?

* Psychonauts

psychonautsIt’s really hard to describe this game, i mean “a wonderful third person original fun platform adventure” just doesn’t seem to do it justice and sounds even worst. But that’s what Psychonauts is, a masterful combination of platformer with the humor, story telling and dialogue options often found in adventure games. Furthermore the whole look of the game it’s really original, it kinds of reminds me of American Mcgee’s Alice; although of course in a much ligther tone. In any case this is real treat for adventure/platformer fans, to me it wasn’t much for the platformer but the great story telling that really hook me up. We have a winner gentlemen!

* Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30

brothersinarmsBrother’s pitch is a tactical squad shooter take on ww2 and for the most part they really got it right. You have great authenticity, atmosphere and of course tactics you can give to your squad_ but it really falls short from excellent in some aspects. Nevertheless what you have here, at it’s very worst, an excellent ww2 first personal shooter experience. If you are looking for a COD WAW replacement until you can come up with those 50 or so bucks, this is a really cheap and excellent alternative.

* Deus Ex: Game of the Year Edition

deusexTHE best RPG/FPS hybrid in my opinion until Fallout 3 showed up, this great title is often overlooked when looking back on gaming; i don’t know why since it not only was a smash hit back then but today it plays pretty darn good as well. Furthermore with this version that includes multiplayer and a mission editor, you really are getting your money’s worth. Conspiracies, terrorists, robots and even aliens all included with some great story telling; you really can’t ask for more. So if you are looking for a “meaningful” FPS experience or are an RPG fan wanted to get down an dirty with an FPS, this is your chance.

* Beyond Good and Evil

beyondgoodandevilA simple beat em’ up at first glance, don’t let this fool you. You are looking at an superb third person action adventure, with strong stealth game elements and the best of it al, taking animals! Great action sequences, mixed with great story telling and plenty of stealth to go around; make up this excellent game. Some vehicle segments also help to keep up the pace with some variety. All in all it’s a great way to spend the time until Beyond Good and Evil 2 arrives.

* Rome: Total War Complete

rometwcompletejpgBoth Gold and Alexander, whichever fancies you, are a must get for any strategy fan and damn well worth the ten bucks; the fact that you will get BOTH these games for that money is beyond superb. We are talking about masterpieces, well technically only one because after Alexander was more of like a “grand mod” of it; but nevertheless both excellent games and you can’t call you a strategy fan if you haven’t try them or at least Total War series game. What is there to say? Historical recreation, managing of cities, grand armies on the map and epic real time battles; perfect for the so called “arm chair” commanders, and i am proud to say i consider myself among their ranks.

* IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946

il2There seems to be a shortage of flight simulators as of late and no, HAWX doesn’t count; all indications say it’s more arcade focus than simulator. IL-2 Sturmovik now, that is a simulator; 400 different planes, 200 missions, historical campaigns, realistic flight models, what if scenarios, online play and tons of stuff make this THE most complete simulator out there. A real bang for your buck. If you are a flight sim junkie, not even the ww2 period can put you off; you have to try this one. WW2 air combat simulations have never been this complete nor this good.

* Civilization III Complete

civ3What is there to say!? It’s a civ game for 5 bucks for god sake, it’s definitely a no brainer. Specially when you can’t afford it’s little brother which eats up 6 times as much money; okay, the 3d graphics upgrade do chip in. In any case this great 4x title for only 5 bucks it’s a must get, however be warned if you are not into deep strategic thinking; this is not for you. RTS junkies stay away! Only people well acquainted with the “just one more turn” syndrome are allowed!

Well that’s it, these are my ten games you should really take a look over; specially to Steam; if you haven’t done so already. On a side note, I really wanted to write “… under 10 minutes… ” but that was pushing it too far, for any Internet connection; 1 hours makes more sense! Well what do you think about the list? Steps to Fix CryAnimation DLL Errors

Cryanmiation.dll is a Dynamic Link Library file used by “Crysis” & several other games from EA to help render some of the advanced graphics features included in the game. Although this file is used continually whenever you play EA Games, it’s often causing a lot of errors & problems. To resolve the issues you’re seeing, you should first ensure that there are not problems with the actual game, your files or your settings on Windows. The errors which cryanimation.dll causes typically include:

• “This application failed to start because cryanimation.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.”

The first way to fix the CryAnimation.dll error is to first re-install the game on your PC and then upgrade it to the latest version. Reinsalling the game will basically allow your system to properly read the files it requires to run, which will boost its reliability and stability. Festival Fashion: It’s not All Wellies and Macs

As the summer season approaches, this can mean only one thing: the advent of Britain’s best music festivals. Whether you’re anticipating muddy fields at Glastonbury or sunny skies at the V festival, why should you compromise your fashion sense in the hope of greater comfort? After all, there’s no reason why you can’t maintain your personal style and still brave the crowds and unpredictable weather with confidence!

When you’re compiling your festival wardrobe, make sure footwear is your priority. The unpredictable nature of British summertime means that it’s probably a good idea to pack both a pair of Wellingtons and trainers, because it’s always best to be prepared for every eventuality. And while it may hurt your fashion ego to do so, invest in a mac or dig out an old raincoat to take with you – it’ll be better than adopting a bin liner and will be preferable to shelling out for one at one of the festival stalls if it starts to bucket down.

Unlike girls, boys may find it easier to cope with the possibility of muddy conditions, so make sure you pack a pair of shorts or three-quarter length trousers; this way, you’ll be able to keep cool if it’s warm and sunny, and you’ll also find it easier to keep your clothes dry if the rain begins to create mud streams. Hooded-tops (known as hoodies) and t-shirts are a must, while jumpers are essential for the colder evenings if you don’t want to catch a nasty festival bug.

Some say that the most intriguing thing about festival fashion is the way singular trends arise at the festival itself, as thread-less individuals create their own style from items bought in the festival’s many stands or the nearby villages. A range of hats, crazy sunglasses and fancy dress appendages – including pirate get-ups – have made appearances at festivals in the past.

However, it’s a sure-fire bet that for 2007, the festival fashion trends will show a clean breakaway from the winter goth-rock trend, with a fresher colour palette, slim silhouette and a strong musical influence. For example, a fitted t-shirt adorned with punk-style graphics, matched with a pair of light-grey jeans and a metal belt will make a bold statement and put some effortless fun into your look; while smarter alternatives for men’s clothing and festival outfits are offered in the way of fitted shirts, bow-ties and trilby’s. But, whatever festival you attend in 2007, remember that there’s more to festival fashion than just wellies and macs.

A review of the Nintendo 3DS handheld games console

Nintendo have a long history of exciting handheld games consoles and been the market leader for many years with their range of DS consoles. First there was the DS, then the DS Lite followed swiftly by the DSi and the DSi XL, every console being an improvement on it’s predecessor. Next in line is the Nintendo 3DS which is going to bring handheld gaming to another level.

When the Nintendo 3DS is released in March, it is going to be packed with features, some old and some new but the main selling point is going to be the 3D gaming experience without the need for 3D glasses but you will still be able to play your old DS and DS Lite games in 2D using it. The console will be initially released in either Black or Blue and some of the games that will be released for the launch of the console include Mario Kart 3DS, PES 2011 3DS, Ridge Racer 3D and The Sims 3.

At first glance, the first thing you will notice is that the 3DS has a Circle Pad analogue control above the + Control pad, this offers you full analogue control in 3D worlds. You combine this with the touch screen, the usual buttons, cameras, microphone input and the advanced motion control of the motion and gyro sensors and the results will be extraordinary.

Obviously most people will buy the 3DS for it’s gaming potential, and some will buy it just because it’s Nintendo but what other new features does the 3DS have? Well, not only does the 3DS have an inward facing camera but it also has two outer facing cameras positioned along its upper edge when the 3DS is open which sees the world in 3D which allows you to take 3D photos.

The 3DS comes with a 2GB memory card which you can use to store your 3D photos, recordings made with the 3DS system and also music from your PC. Also, use the memory card to store games downloaded from Nintendo’s eShop. The 3DS has SDHC card compatibility so you can increase your storage space even further is you wish to.

A couple of other new features are Streetpass and Spotpass. With Streetpass, set your 3DS to Sleep Mode and carry it with you when you go out and exchange game data like Mii characters, custom characters and high scores with other users that you simply pass on the street, exchanging only the data that you want to exchange. Spotpass is a feature which allows the 3DS to detect wireless hotspots and obtain free software, game data and videos etc, even when the 3DS is in Sleep Mode.

A couple of welcome additions are adjustable stylus and cradle charging. If, like me you have large hands, you would have found the usual DS stylus to be rather small and fiddly but now it can be adjusted to your liking with a simple push or pull. The Cradle charger is a docking system that allows you to charge the 3DS when not in use. Using the Spotpass feature means that if you leave it on the cradle dock in Sleep Mode it can still comunicate with other 3DS devices that pass near.

I for one am excited about getting the new Nintendo 3DS games console on its release and I’m hoping that it’s everything that Nintendo claim it is going to be. Nintendo have always came up with the goods in the past so I know they will have done so again. The only question that I have left is, “what are Nintendo going to come up with next?”
